Three Ways Good Eyesight Makes Your Life Better

National Eyewear Day: Three Ways Good Eyesight Makes Your Life Better

Fifteen seconds without my glasses is all it takes for me to appreciate both my eyewear and my eyesight! I can’t imagine how difficult life would be without having any vision at all. And for the millions of people around the world who require vision correction, we can all be grateful for the invention of eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Eyewear makes our lives better. Not just better as in things are “good” without clear vision and “better” when you see clear, rather the ability to see well, saves and improves our lives, every day.

Here are three ways that good eyesight makes your life better!

  1. Poor Vision is Stressful

Have you ever had to drive (maybe at night) in foggy conditions? Or, perhaps you first noticed your need for vision correction because you couldn’t read a street sign. When you can’t see well, it’s stressful. And, stress is hard on your body and leads to all kinds of health issues. Straining to read, see a presentation at the front of the room, or find your exit on the freeway adds stress throughout your day. And all that stress adds up!

But when you have the right corrective eyewear, all of these tasks become easier. The stress alleviates because you can see what you need to see, when you need to see it, without any difficulty. Good eyesight means less stress!

  1. Life is Beautiful

When our world is in focus we are able to see and appreciate how beautiful our lives really are. Whether its beauty found in the faces of your children or grandchildren, or the beauty of a spring day when flowers are in bloom, good eyesight allows us to savor it all. I know I’m grateful for my eyewear that lets me see the Texas bluebonnets growing along the highway and enjoy the beautiful sunsets when we vacation at the beach. Good eyesight allows us to experience this beauty.

  1. Good Vision Saves Time

When you can see well, both near and far, you don’t waste time straining (or moving the page forward and back) to read. We spend a lot more time reading each day than we may realize—from the directions on the back of the box of pasta to price tags as we’re shopping, to restaurant menus or text messages that ding into our phones. When we see well (and have proper vision correction to read well) processing these visual messages feels easy and happens quickly. This saves time because we can easily navigate reading tasks all day long.

So why are you thankful for good eyesight (or the good corrective eyewear that helps you enjoy it)? Once you have your answer, you may want to tell an associate at your closest Eyeglass World “thank you” for making your life better!
