It’s a (Fashion) Jungle Out There

Ahhhh… Animal print. Love it or hate it, it seems to surface again and again on the fashion scene.  Year after year we see leopard, zebra, and reptile skins of all sorts incorporated into seasonal trends.  This Fall will not be an exception.

Head to Toe Jungle Print?
So, do you need to go head to toe, jungle wild to be in style come September?  The answer is not necessarily.  (Great news for those of us under the age of 70!)  In fact, some of this Fall’s hottest animal print trends are more understated, tonal (versus full color) versions of the original.  In fact, I saw a great snake skin skirt on a fashion site recently that was a muted taupe color.  The snake skin effect was accomplished entirely by the fabric’s texture, and not with contrasting colors.

Likewise, Guess brand is doing a lot with leopard prints this season. They are bringing back this animal print classic in handbags, shoes and other accessories. If you are ready to give your wardrobe a touch of jungle, look for basic pieces that you can mix and match –depending on the occasion. For example, a cute zebra print blouse would be great at work when toned down by a black blazer or full suit.  But, then, in the evening, you can wear that same blouse open over a sleek black cami paired with a bold and colorful statement necklace and your favorite denim bottom.
