Wearing Glasses on Your Wedding Day: Fashion Do or Fashion Don’t?

Your wedding day. Arguably one of the biggest days of your life. You make sure every aspect of it is perfect including your look. You’ve paid way too much for that perfect dress and thought through your hair, make-up and accessories. But what about your glasses? Should they be part of your wedding day glam?

Here’s what I think:

If your regular look includes you in glasses…if that’s a main way that people know and recognize you then I think glasses for your trip down the aisle are a fashion do!

How Will You Remember Your Big Day?

Those of us on the other side of the “big day” know that in a few years, all you’ll have to remember that wedding is your photographs and, potentially, a video you’ll pull out a few times over the decades to amuse your children. If all of those images are of a woman without glasses…and you are woman constantly in glasses…something will seem odd. I think you’ll regret not having worn them.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating wearing your plain old, everyday frame for your big day. A dressy occasion calls for a great designer eyeglass frame. Updating your glasses look for the big day also includes ensuring your lenses are clean, they have an anti-reflective coating on them (for those pictures), and they fit well. (No sliding down your nose or sitting crooked!)

You Want to be Comfortable

Need another good reason to wear your glasses on your big day? How about this one: Wear them because you’ll be comfortable. Your shoes, your dress, your undergarments, dancing in front of other people, hugging people you are now related-to-by-marriage but barely know, all of those things can be awkward and uncomfortable. Why add one more thing to your list of wedding day discomforts? Just choose a great frame and see the world in the way you are used to seeing it…through an extra set of lenses and a great frame.
