Vision Insurance: What Eyeglass World Accepts and How It Works

Having vision insurance can greatly reduce the amount of money you will spend on out-of-pocket expenses, which is very important if you need prescription lenses. At Eyeglass World, we work with many insurance providers to satisfy your needs. The last thing we want to do is turn someone down simply because they cannot afford the eyewear they need!

While we do our best to accommodate the needs of all of our customers, not every store will accept all plans. Make sure to call the store closest to you first before scheduling an appointment and one of our store associates will be able to tell you right away whether your provider is accepted at that location.

Here are just a few of the insurance plans we accept:

  • Adventist Risk Management
  • Avesis
  • Block Vision
  • Davis Vision
  • EyeMed Vision Care
  • MES – Medical Eye Services
  • NVA – National Vision Administrators
  • Superior Vision
  • United Healthcare
  • VIPA – Vision Insurance Plan of America
  • Plus many more

How Does Vision Insurance Work?

The importance of vision insurance can quickly be realized in the sense that it covers the cost of routine eye exams and procedures, as well as a significant portion of the cost of eyewear. People that have eye problems or that will require eye exams more often will be best served by a premium insurance plan.

The cost of vision insurance can quickly pay off when you factor in the cost of prescription lenses and eye care procedures. There are generally two types of vision insurance, and Eyeglass World accepts both types.

The first kind is a vision benefits package; these plans provide customers with free eye care services and eyewear within a fixed dollar amount. You pay an annual premium and a small co-pay amount each time you make a transaction.

The second type of vision insurance is called a discount vision plan; the premiums for these plans are generally cheaper, but they will not cover the full cost of services and eyewear. In contrast to a vision benefits package, you will receive a discount on these products.

You will want to choose an insurance plan that is going to afford you the greatest cost advantage. If you or anyone in your family requires frequent vision care or will need to buy eyewear more regularly, it may be cheaper in the long-term to choose a vision benefits package. Likewise, if you only need an annual eye exam or if you will only require a limited amount of eyewear, a discount vision plan would be ideal.
