Vintage Inspired Eyeglasses and Sunglasses Blast From the Past

Vintage Style Eyeglasses

Justin Timberlake brought sexy back. Well, we’re bringing vintage back. (Yeah!)

If you follow fashion trends at all, you must have noticed these timeless classic frames coming back in the spotlight. Some reinvented, some the same ol’ classics – but all a fun blast from the past.

From sassy cat eye frames to geek chic Wayfarers™, these eyeglass trends are bound to have you viewing your old family photos with nothing but admiration.

Influences all the way from the 1930s with the Ray-Ban® Aviators™ to 1970s oversized sunglasses are model examples of the trends you see today.

These Retro Sunglasses Have Withstood the Test of Time

The Aviators™, invented for the Air Force in 1930s, aren’t just your grandfather’s sunglasses anymore. They’ve been a model example of a look that just keeps coming back, that keeps getting reinvented in new, fun, and bold ways.

Aviators™ are one of the most popular- if not the most- stylish in sunglasses. Flip through any pop culture magazine and you’re bound to find AT LEAST one celebrity sporting a pair. Though created over 60 years ago, this vintage style is anything but old. You can find them slightly altered in shape (some more square, some more round), made out of different materials such as plastic or metal (the original were wire frames) and with an option of colors in the lenses.

It’s a confident prediction:

Ray-Ban® Aviators™  are a vintage look that’s definitely here to stay.

Another trend coming back now is the Wayfarers™. Yes, it’s been a good century for Ray-Ban® when it comes to classic designs.

The Wayfarer™ came to light in 1956, but really took the limelight in the 1980s. They faded a bit in popularity, but are most definitely revived in fashion today. Like the Aviators™, the classic Wayfarer™ came back, as well as the many different interpretation and reinvented versions. Ray-Ban® is having a lot of fun with these bold yet cool frames. Offered in a variety of different sizes, colors, and patterns, they are the epitome of expressing yourself through your eyeglasses.

The Sassy and Fierce: Cat Eye Sunglasses

Not last nor least, the cat eyes are making a comeback as well. These feminine, retro yet boldly sexy frames aren’t just coming back in optical frames, but in sunglasses as well.  You can totally see why every picture you see of your grandmother from the 1950s and 1960s has her rocking a pair of cat-eye glasses. And these glasses are coming back full swing. This look is especially catching in sunglasses. That’s right, oversized cat eye sunglasses.

The cat-eye is fun because it plays to what you want. You can find either very dramatic frames or a nice subtle pair…or do what we do, and just buy both.
