Trendy Tuesday: Instagram Glasses?

Move over Facebook, you know your little sister, Instagram is gaining more and more devoted followers each day!  The younger social media site offers something that similar connection sites don’t — that is a chance to make your photographs look super cool before they are shared.  It’s simply known as the filtered effect.

If you aren’t familiar with the filter concept, allow me to explain.  What happens is you take a photograph in normal conditions (whatever normal may be– day or night) and then Instagram allows you to choose one of their special effects — or a filter — to add to it.  In some cases the filter will brighten certain colors or tones found in the photograph.  In other cases the filter seems to add an additional layer of tone — like a yellow or rose color –to give the photo a completely different feel.

So, what are Instagram Glasses?

Well, that’s a term I read recently in Forbes magazine to describe how eyeglass lenses are following an Instagram-inspired trend by incorporating more unusual lens tints that–in a sense– mimic the Instagram filter concept.

Here’s a great example. It’s no longer just cliché to ask someone if their positive view of the world is thanks to their rose-colored glasses.  They actually, may well own a great, fashion pair of glasses with rose tinted lenses!

You’ll see blue and violet tinted lenses popping up in designer eyeglass frames too!   Especially in sunglass lenses.  Check out the pictures below to see two beautiful frame examples of this cool color combination!

Prefer the world to be crisp, clear with just a touch of amber?  Don’t worry, there’s a lens for that.  Or, maybe you dig that vintage look?  Fashion lenses can have you covered there, too!  How about a gold tint that makes the world look like you just applied a sepia filter?  Yes, they’ve got them!

It seems brown and gray tints have some stiff competition this year from a variety of new tint colors (as well as lens tint and eyeglass frame color combinations).
