Save Money on EyeglassesYou finally found that perfect pair of glasses at Eyeglass World. Sure, you have multiple pairs of glasses, but there is that one pair that makes your heart “pitter patter” with happiness every time you lay your eyes on it. They’re all favorites – but this one is just, well, more favorite.

So how do you make this love last? Read below!

Simple tips on how to keep your eyeglasses in great shape:

Cleaning your eye wear

Do always wet your glasses with eyeglass cleaner or even just tap water before wiping them. This removes dirt and debris which, if rubbed on a dry surface, can actually scratch your lens.

Don’t ever use household cleaner (not even glass cleaner) on your lenses. Household cleaning products have chemicals that are extremely abrasive and can damage the coating on your lenses.

Do only use a soft cotton or micro-fiber cloth when wiping or drying your lenses.

Don’t use paper towels or facial tissue. These items are wood based and can cause scratches. And don’t ever use your shirt tail. Dirt and debris on your clothes can do far more damage than you think.

Protecting Your Eyeglasses

Do remove your glasses before spraying hair spray, perfume, or any other chemicals because these items contain chemicals that are harmful to your coatings and even some lens material.

Don’t use any alcohol based cleaner – even if it is labeled to be safe for optical lenses. Polycarbonate lenses are very sensitive to chemicals, and alcohol is no friend.

Handling your Eyeglasses

Do use both hands to remove your glasses. By doing this, you avoid putting undue stress on the hinges or bridge of your glasses.

Don’t sleep in your glasses. This will undoubtedly bend the shape of your frame, affecting the way they fit you. It will also weaken your frames over time from the pressure.

Do properly store your glasses away in a case when you’re not using them.

Don’t put your glasses lens down on any surface. This a sure fire way to scratch your lenses.

Storing Your Eyeglasses

Do keep your glasses in a mild temperature setting.

Don’t leave your glasses exposed to excessive heat, such as in a car, near a stove or even out poolside in the sun. Heat can warp your lenses, damage lens coating and material and even distort frames, depending on what they’re made out of.
