Making a Fashion Splash in Designer Sunglasses

Summer is here and it’s time to show your style in one of the season’s hottest swimsuits!

I am thrilled with the 2013 swimsuit trends, for the most part.  If you desire to be a fashionable bathing beauty this year you have lots of great options ranging from super cute vintage inspired bikinis to really unique, and evening gown inspired one-piece suits.

New Patterns

I adore all the prints I’m seeing. And they are everywhere. Geometric shapes, bold digital prints, animal patterns, you name it. They are all showing up on swimsuits of every shape and cut. The fantastic thing about printed fabric is that, if used correctly, it can hide body parts you’d rather not have the world notice by drawing more attention to your best assets!

For example, a bright geometric print on the top part of a two-piece can draw attention up to your bust-line. Or, similarly, use a darker solid or print on the bottom to minimize those thighs. I’ve heard that one hot trend this year is actually wearing mismatched bikinis.  Although I’m not sure this is a look I love, if you do it, I just recommend you be strategic about it!

Going Retro

My favorite swimsuits of this season are those that are a bit of a throw back to an era gone by.  There are flutter bikini tops that channel the 70s with their cute little ruffles.  I saw a retro cool, circa 1960, very modest “sailor girl” nautical themed bikini the other day too.

It seems that the hottest new swimsuits have some features of older ones — like larger cut (adding more coverage–even all the way over the belly button) bikini bottoms or halter tops.  I’m also seeing more swim dresses and swim skirts that aren’t just in the “mature ladies” section.  In fact, they are quite appropriate even for the under 30 crowd!

Asymmetrical Style

One other style I’m loving is the one-shoulder or asymmetrical trend.  I’ve seen suits ranging from stunning to sweet with this one-shouldered look.  I’d swear some of these off the shoulder, glam suits look dressy enough to wear out to dinner.
