Flip Flops, Sling-Backs and Sandals, Oh My!

Make that pedicure appointment! The season for showing off those toes has officially arrived!

Although where I live you can get away with wearing sandals at least nine months out of the year, I’m still happy when I can officially put my closed-toe shoes away for the season.

This season the heels have it. Some of the hottest looks are skinny two-inch heels with lots of straps and bows and details all the way up to the ankles.  Warning: these shoes look awesome but are not for those with weak calves!

Animal print and other wild styles are working their way into foot fashion as well.  But, if jungle isn’t your vibe– you can also girl it up by choosing other pairs that feature on more feminine touches like flowers and ribbons of all different sizes.

If heels aren’t practical for your lifestyle, then you’ll love some of this year’s sandal trends. Lots of beading and jewels set this season’s sandals apart.  Many of them also have styles that include straps around the ankle with details that spread over the entire shoe. Thong styles and straps that hug your big toe always look as hot as the weather in August.

Another cute style I’ve seen is lower sandals with a cute, half-inch squarer heel.  Sling-backs in this height are a great choice for a summer evening when an after dinner stroll in on the agenda.

Flowers, buckles, jewels and animal prints will also be working their way into your flip flop choices for this summer. I know that these flat bottom favorites are a staple for the beach or pool in my household. I personally love the giant gemstone look to dress up a pair for dinner out after a day at the beach. The whimsical pairs with giant flowers or bows on them would look sweet with the right sundress or beach cover up.

Of course, nothing looks better with a great pair of summer shoes than a great pair of summer shades. If you are looking for a new pair of designer sunglasses this year, then look no further than your closest Eyeglass World. The incredible prices you’ll find on fashion sunglass frames from designer names that you adore will allow more room in your budget to indulge in a few extra pairs of new sandals.

Here’s one of my favorite pairs of sunglasses by Ray-Ban (the name in shades) for the season that’s sure to look good with any summer shoe you choose:
