4 Spring 2014 Makeup Trends You Can Achieve Through Your Eyeglasses

The brows have it for at least another season according to trendsetters and fashion scouts. If you want to have the hottest eye look this spring, start with a great arch and a clean, wide and distinctive brow line. Then, consider trying out some of the other great eye trends seen across runways this year.

Below are just a few I’ve noticed. Also, keep in mind that you can always play up these trends through your eyewear as well. So, for each look, I’ve included a pair of frames that I think hit the mark.

Cat Eyes

This look resurfaced with a bang last year. You can get a great cat eye by using some dramatic black or dark brown or even rich colored eyeliner. Just draw a thick line on your lower and upper eyelid lines and meet the two lines on the corner of your eyes in a way that mimics an arrow pointing away from your nose. You can also get this look with some Audrey Hepburn-esque eyeglasses like the pair below from Just!

Be Blue

Blue eye shadow is a must have for the season. While this trend might have you flash dancing back to the 80s, this year’s blues are truer and richer shades of colors like peacock or topaz. But, gone are the days of blending the blue away with other muted shades. The “now” look is keeping that blue color noticeable. For eyeglasses, try some aqua or light blue frames like the Spada frames below.

Sparkle and Shine

Runways and fashion magazines are taking an even bolder approach to gilded eye colors. This season you’ll see lots of shine by way of added glitter and over the top metallic-flecked makeup. Be it gold that shimmers or bronze that shines — you’ll look great in whichever heavy metal eye look you choose. Try adding some shine with metal frames like the Spada glasses in gold below.

Natural And Dewy

If you prefer a more natural look, then you’ll love this fresh-faced trend that uses light, often iridescent shades of light pink and white shadows and even liners to create a youthful glow around the eyes. Use these light colored cosmetics in the same way you would use their darker tinted comrades. In fact, some make-up artists suggest using white eyeliner to do a traditional cat eye for a more angelic look. For eyeglasses, consider a pair that are minimalistic but bold like the DKNY frames below. These also play on the black and white color combination trend that continues to be seen on runways.
