A Knit-Picky Fashion Statement

What’s hot this summer? Sweaters.

Yes, I did say sweaters! Some of you are getting warm just thinking about that idea.

But in fact, loose fitting knits as pretty as something your grandmother could crochet are a 2014 summer essential.  And, though they look hot…I can assure you that these barely-there knit styles are nothing if not breathable.

These pretty and feminine looking pieces come as cardigans or crew necks.  Some have full length sleeves but are sheer enough not to be too ridiculous of a choice for a hot summer day. Others are sheer and sleeveless or short-sleeved making them the perfect light layer over a sweet summer maxi or tank dress. If you love the crochet look, choose a crochet dress for a really attention-getting look.

If all over knit seems a bit too much to you, you’ll see lovely knit patterns on the back of summer tops and cardigans alike. Cute knit accents like tassels and fringe set them apart from anything you would imagine as frumpy.

Of course, you’ll also need to stock up on essentials like solid camis and tanks to wear under your knits.  Choose smooth and clean lines for underneath so you don’t add bulk or distract away from the pretty patterns of your sweater.

What else looks cute with knitted styles? Glasses of course! Let’s get real: pairing a necklace with a crewneck sweater is a challenge (not to mention the feat of making sure your necklace doesn’t accidentally catch and pull your knit out of shape!).

But, a great (not to mention, safe) look for your knits is a feminine fashion eyeglass frame — preferably one with some color.  Chunky and stylish duotone color frames like this one from Vera Bradley would be the perfect accessories for your new knit cardigan.
